Well, I'm home from work. It was a good day. I'm ready to come home at the end of my shifts though. I've been working both on cash in the main section of the store and also in the gas bar/convenience store section. I really like the convenience store part since there's always something to do, coffee to make, dusting, sweeping, wiping counters. I like keeping busy and it's a bit easier out there. Today for no apparent reason the power went out twice. The first time was 10-15 minutes and the second time 5-10 minutes. We had to ask everyone to leave the store and then just wait for it to come back on. There was no bad weather or any other reason that we could figure out. Someone said a bird had hit a wire the first time but I don't know if I'm falling for that one.
Above is a picture of the outside of our house, my room inside and the view across the street. Your welcome Mom.
Tonight I made one of those Kraft pizza kits for supper. It was really good. I kind of remember having them sometimes when I was a kid.
I got another book from the library. Someone mentioned this one to me somewhere along the way while I was getting ready for this adventure and there it was on the shelf waiting for me today. It's called: Late Nights on Air by Elizabeth Hay. I'll let you know what I think of it.
Now to address Kim's questions: we still were having some snow falling in the nights last week and it was pretty cold some of the days. The big chunks of ice you see in the pictures are huge in real life, they will take a while to melt down!
I haven't seen any wildlife. I've heard the bears are active. I'm not sure how much wildlife we get here on the island but I'm going to ask around and if there is some I want to see it! I may have to go hang out at the dump to see the bears, but I'll do it!
No I haven't seen Northern lights yet. I think they are not so visible if they are visible at all this time of year. I kind of think they start up again in the fall and run through until April. Apparently in town you don't see them as well as here by the water. I did buy a card for my cousins at the Yellowknife airport that has a beautiful picture of them though.
So that's the question and answer period for tonight.
Wishing you all a good night.....
How awesome to have that view of the river and be so close to all that you have to do. I have seen Northern Lights a few times. Once I awoke in the middle of the night and I could just feel the energy before I actually saw it. I went outside in my nightgown and watched the spectacular show. It was in August of that year.
ReplyDeleteMardi where was that? If it was in Orangeville and I came all the way up here......?????!!!!
